How I Found Mindfulness

I discovered mindfulness during a rather stressful year when I couldn't change the situation I was in, but I was starting to lose my mind!
I bought a book, did a course, did another course and after a few years of playing with my own practice, I trained to teach mindfulness so others could learn this wonderful thing that had helped me so much.

Initially I included mindfulness in my yoga classes; then I started to run Introduction to Mindfulness half day retreats.
When Covid forced us all into Lockdown in March 2020, I felt there was a strong need for something extra to keep us steady, grounded & calm in such wildly unexpected and weird circumstances. Mindfulness with Emma was born and I started teaching mindfulness sessions each week. These sessions give people a chance to take half an hour a day just for them; to be still and maybe begin to find that sense of calm rippling through to their emotions and thoughts as well.

I still teach 5 sessions each week, drawing from the foundations of mindfulness: grounding & stillness, breathwork, awareness, gratitude & compassion.
I will also share other techniques, ideas or words of wisdom and comfort I've picked up: excerpts from books I'm reading, a bit of yoga breathing, simple meditations & relaxation techniques too. All this wise stuff overlaps.

I run five 30 minute sessions each week. These are mornings and evenings, weekdays and weekends, so there is usually at least a few you can fit into your week. They're short enough to suit a fidgety beginner and long enough to feel a benefit afterwards.

And if you are wondering what that first book was, it's called "Finding Peace in a Frantic World" by Mark Williams and it is amazing.
I am not on commission for this ;-)
