Weekend Yoga Retreat - Frequently Asked Questions
Where am I going?
The Cattle Shed property is on the edge of the village of Grindleford. The full address is Stoke Farm, Grindleford, Hope Valley, S32 2HW.
The driveway is at quite an angle to the main road & it's quite a fast road, so please drive slowly as you approach and take your time pulling in. If you're approaching from the north, from Grindleford village, the drive will be a very sharp left turn, so we'd recommend driving past, finding a safe spot to turn around and driving back, so it's easier to enter the property safely.
Where do I park?
Drive through the gates and we’ll be there to direct you to a parking space.
What time should I arrive?
Please aim to arrive between 4 & 5pm on Friday 27th June 2025. We would love to welcome you anytime from 4pm and it'd be great if you were there by 5pm so you can settle in to your room, set up your yoga equipment in our yoga room, get a drink & have a look around the house and deck.
Our Welcome session will begin at 6pm.
If you need to arrive later than 6pm, let us know and we will save a place in the yoga room for you and if needs be, set aside some dinner too.
Do I need my own mat?
If you have your own mat please bring it with you. If you don't have a mat let us know in advance and we will bring one for you for use during the weekend.
What else should I bring?
The following is a list of optional items that might make your yoga and stay a bit more comfortable. Please remember it is the Peak District in May so it should be sunny & warm, but it might be cold & wet. We have put in an order with the powers that be for the former but there are no guarantees ;-)
- a water bottle & a sealable flask for hot drinks. No open glasses & mugs in the yoga room please.
- a snuggly blanket, socks &/or an extra layer for relaxation
- A bolster &/or cushion
- warm walking socks, at least one warm jumper, waterproof jacket, beanie hat (it's nice sitting outside at night by the fire so be prepared)
- sunscreen & a sun hat
- if you want to go wild swimming in the shallow river; a swimming towel (house towels can't be brought down to the river), swimming shoes if you have some & your swimming costume / shorts.
- sturdy shoes for walking on gravelly paths and down muddy banks
- your own alcohol if you'd like a glass of wine with dinner or some port looking out over the fire. It's not a dry weekend but it's not a wild crazy one either ;-) Please respect some people will want to be in bed early.
You can leave most of your yoga equipment in the yoga room throughout the weekend as it will be locked when not in use. Please do not leave valuables in the yoga room when unattended.
Any valuables brought with you are entirely at your own risk and Emma’s Yoga & Mindfulness will not be liable for any damage or losses.
What will the food be like?
All food is freshly prepared on site by our amazing team of vegan chefs. They have a wealth of knowledge and experience of delivering crowd-pleasing nutritious and delicious food and we love them!! There will be a tantalizing Indian feast one night, seasonal soups & salads, puddings, flapjacks & freshly made breads. They are very experienced with with gluten free, coeliac and diabetic requirements, so please just let us know what you need.

Yes. We hope to be outdoors as much as the weather permits, so be prepared for that. If it is really hot or cold or wet, we'll be in our wonderful yoga room. We reserve the right to modify our practice dependant on the weather.
How long will the walks be?
Our guided walks will be about 2-3 miles. Walks may involve uneven ground, stiles, hills, gravel paths and no doubt some mud, so please be prepared for this with sensible shoes and strong legs. Please let us know when booking if you have any mobility issues and we will try to accommodate you.
