Hello Autumn: A Yoga & Mindfulness Workshop |
|
This a course about lots of the things-other-than-yoga that I do to help keep me motivated & energised, steady & calm, and feeling happy & grateful in a busy life.
My dream is for us to come together into a lovely little group where we will give ourselves time to learn, share & chat, be creative and find some daily, weekly & seasonal rituals that light us up; to be & become Wise Women! The six week course runs over seven weeks, with the first & last meetings in person, the rest on Zoom. I'll include teachings I love from my training in yoga, meditation & breathwork, as well as forest bathing, cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT), ayurveda and life coaching. Here are some of the themes I'd love to share with you; core values, living with seasons, following lunar cycles, clearing space & letting go, creating spaces for your work, home, sleep, self, silence & solitude, journaling, being creative (zero artistic talent required!), intentional time in nature, affirmation & intention, vision boards and becoming boards. There will be a private Wise Women WhatsApp Group to share your activities, thoughts and whatnot throughout the course. I’ve done this before and it worked really nicely, bringing the group together and providing so much wonderful motivation and inspiration. You'll receive a Welcome Pack with a course workbook & a few gifts from me to use during the course, a course workbook to record & explore your thoughts, ideas and our various topics, two 3-hour in person sessions on Cannock Chase, with drinks and snacks provided, four 2-hour Zoom meetings on Fridays from 1-3pm, recorded for you to watch again, suggestions for further reading if you want to go deeper, a private WhatsApp Group to share your activities, thoughts and build a little community and online support from me whenever you get a bit stuck. The cost for the course is £120, which I hope you will agree is a bargain for all of the above. I hope this all sounds really interesting and worthwhile. Please know, everything we will be doing on this course is optional. There is nothing you can get wrong. There will be no deadlines or requirements. Just turn up. Time, especially “spare” time, is very precious. If you can’t find time one week, that’s what the break week is for, catching up, so don’t worry. If something doesn’t really appeal to you, you are welcome to leave it and focus on other parts of the course that you really enjoy. Maybe you’ll want to come back to it later, maybe you won’t. I’m going to suggest things you might like to try; it is 100% up to you which ones you start to incorporate into your life. |
This course is an opportunity to learn more about yoga; to understand that yoga is a way of being and is so much more than yoga poses, breathing and deep relaxation (although these are covered too!).
This course is broken down into chapters so you can dip in & out as time allows. Including some reflection time, the whole course should take just under 4 hours and includes: - a definition and explanation of yoga & what it is, and an introduction to Patanjali, who wrote the first ever yoga manual about 1500 years ago - a discussion of Patanjali's 8 Limbs of Yoga - explanation of the yamas and niyamas, the brakes and accelerators that move us away from or towards a state of yoga - two short asana practices, to explore how the yamas & niyamas can be woven through our formal practice, - a simple breathing technique (pranayama) that can be altered to bring about quick, effective changes in our physiology & mood - a 25 minute guided deep relaxation which may allow you to withdraw from your senses and experience pratyahara, (that slightly floaty but awake feeling) - a technique to improve concentration (dharana), which you can do in stages, depending on how long you have - a discussion on the final Limbs of dyana (meditation) and samadhi (realisation or bliss), and how they may one day lead us to moksha, true freedom. The course will be emailed to you as a website that looks like a workbook, which you can print off for taking notes and writing down your reflections if you like. This workbook contains some brief notes for each section and nearly 3 hours of videos that you can pause whenever you like. You can set aside a morning, afternoon or evening, or do the course in sections as & when you get the chance. The first few sections are me chatting, so find somewhere comfy & relax. If it's sunny & warm, roll out your picnic rug and get outside! Later on you will need a bit of space to do some yoga and then lie down. You can watch the videos as many times as you like, and as they're on YouTube, they'll never expire like our classes do on Zoom. In the asana section, I actively encourage you to repeat one of the simple practices every day for a week and note down how you feel doing the same thing on different days. And I would definitely recommend using the deep relaxation video! A lot ;-) I think that learning to relax properly is one of the best things we can do to counteract all the rushing and busy-ness of modern life! So, all of this amazing knowledge and a variety of quick & easy asana, breathing and meditation techniques you can learn & repeat until you know them well and can use them whenever you want or need them. I hope that all sounds fantastic! I will be pricing this course at the cost of an online morning workshop, with the bonus that you can keep it forever and repeat any part of it as many times as you like. The course cost is £25. If you would like to buy this course, send me an email or text me at 07846 807 980 and I will get you started! |
As requested, I have created an autumnal online workshop for you all! We’ve all felt a change in the air and as it can be a little hard to let go of summer, with all it’s holidays, warm weather & general excitement, it is important to acknowledge the season is changing.
This workshop is a chance to give you some space to wind down, take some time for yourself and remind yourself of who you want to be and how you want to live. Explore how seasonal yoga can help you feel bright & happy over the coming weeks & months. There's a little bit of everything in here! I’ve made two yoga practices, one if you only have 15 minutes or so and if you have longer, the second practice follows on beautifully. The yoga is opening, grounding & calming & to help you transition from our still, hot summer to the often stormy arrival of Autumn. We’ll dip in to the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda to see what it suggests we do at this time of year to help adjust to changing temperatures and light. There’ll be a bit of mindfulness, guiding you through a short mindful eating exercise and then you have the opportunity to go for a mindful autumn walk, wherever you like, taking some notes and ideas with you to help you really look, listen & notice. Hopefully by now you’ll be feeling calm and centred and this is the perfect time to consider some questions that will help you reflect over the last six months or so, to see what you need to let go of and put behind you, and what you should gather to you and place a little more importance on as you move forwards. And finally, we’ll lie down for some yoga to wind down, I’ll guide you through a lovely long yoga nidra (that’s deep relaxation) and a gratitude practice so you feel ready to welcome Autumn in with open arms and an open heart. Including the guided mindful walk & some reflection time, it should take you about 4 hours to do. It is all online; yours to keep forever and do as many times as you like. If you would like to purchase this workshop, it is priced at just £15. To order your copy, click on the contact me button below or message me on 0784607980. Mindfulness for Everyday Life
This course is called Mindfulness for Every Day Life because I wanted to give people a range of tools to incorporate mindfulness into their everyday life. It originated from a mindfulness workshop I did in the summer. So many people sent me emails and messages the following week saying how they felt they were actually making changes in their lives, I wanted to share it with more people.
We are all busy. I make conscious decisions every single day to move towards being less and less busy but there are always a million and one things clamouring for my attention and it can be really hard to resist.
So in this course, we are going to take our time learning some techniques, ideas and principles that I have found useful at various times for various issues I am working on. Then we will practice them as 1-minute practices. I’ll talk a bit more about 1-minute practices later on in the course, but the idea is that hopefully we can all find a few 1-minute moments in our day where we can do something positive.
I think the best way to go about incorporating mindfulness into your everyday is to book end your day; I certainly seem to feel I have more time available first thing and last thing. I pick a few things that work for me and help me start my day feeling calm, capable & ready to enjoy all I can. And at the other end of the day, I do a few things that help me end it putting to bed any worries or concerns, feeling each day was the best it could have been or choosing to try to learn from things that didn’t go quite to plan.
In this course, we are going to look at how we can mindfully begin and end our days, plus place a few moments of mindfulness in between, because that’s the busy bit and in the midst of life is often when we need mindfulness the most!
The course will again be offered at an early bird price for a short period and then go up to it's forever price. I'll decide these once I finish building the course and will give lots of notice on Facebook when it is nearly ready.
