Weekend Yoga Retreat
Friday August 30th - Sunday September 1st 2024
Loughborough, Leicestershire
Last year we ran a retreat at this venue for the first time and it was such an outstanding success, we booked a weekend in 2025 the minute we got home!
We are very excited to welcome you to this beautiful stately home, nestled within its own private 30 acres of gardens & forest. The hall is located less than an hour’s drive from Lichfield on the outskirts of Loughborough and many who came to stay in 2024 commented on the peaceful feel of the whole place.
Nanpantan Hall was a rather grand Victorian home which is now used solely as a spiritual retreat centre. High ceilinged & airy lounges & dining rooms with open fires and two conservatories provide gorgeous places for yoga, lounging around & mealtime chat. Our yoga room is in the heart of the house and has a stunning view across fields and woods to nearby Beacon Hill. Outside, there is a huge formal lawn perfect for outdoor yoga or simply soaking up the sunshine, a firepit for night-time gatherings, a walking spiral for quiet contemplation & if you fancy a woodland wander, there are 30 acres of private grounds to explore.
Your weekend will include at least: 6 Dru yoga, Yin yoga & qi gong sessions, 3 meditations, 3 yoga nidra (deep relaxations), a seasonal yoga workshop, a fireside meditation & star gazing with warming chai. We have also intentionally included free time in our programme so there will be plenty of time for you have some time to yourself or to chat with other like-minded souls - whatever your preference.
Here is your programme for the weekend. We will try to be outside as much as possible & so this plan may change a little. Our theme will be a celebration of summer and preparation for heading into Autumn. If you would really love a session on mantra, chakras, koshas or anything else, please let us know and we will try to accommodate this over the weekend.
You can arrive anytime after 4pm on Friday afternoon and settle in to your room. Once everyone has arrived, we'll welcome you with an introduction to our theme for the weekend and do some gentle yoga to stretch you out after your journey. Our vegetarian chefs will prepare a delicious dinner which we’ll take at a leisurely pace; enjoying chatting to other guests and maybe enjoying a glass of wine if you’d like to bring some with you.
After dinner, we'll have another Yin yoga practice to help you completely unwind before an hour or two of star-gazing if the skies are clear. We can sit around our forest fire pit & soak up the atmosphere of the big sky above. Alternately, we may all choose to sit out on the terrace & admire the view, enjoying the warm summer evening & maybe seeing some of the resident bats, deer & badgers who share our lawn.
On Saturday, following morning mindfulness in our pjs and a delicious breakfast, join us out on the lawn for a seasonal workshop on the transition from summer to autumn and how we can best look after ourselves through this time. Once breakfast has settled, we’ll move through some beautiful qi gong to stretch our bodies and open our hearts. After a tea break, we’ll gather again for more yoga, this time an energising session of sun salutations, warriors and inversions to celebrate the wonderful summer sunshine. We’ll finish with a glorious guided relaxation before heading inside to our sun- & view -filled dining room for lunch. As with all your meals, you’re welcome to take it outside if you like!
The afternoon includes some time out to relax reading a book or enjoying a coffee on the outside terrace. Last year some of us ventured up the hill to scratch the bellies of the new rescue pigs with a stiff bristled broom. It was rather lovely! IN 2025 there should be some new friendly & fluffy chickens to give a pat or you can sit with the bees in the orchard & paint, read or nap. If you are feeling energetic, it’s a 2 mile walk up to Beacon Hill, from which there are expansive views across Leicestershire to Lincoln Cathedral and the hills of the Peak District. Or you could drive to the top in 5 minutes and enjoy the view! If you fancy a wander in the woods, The Outwoods is just a 4 minute drive away and you wander through the 110 acres of woods, spotting the incredible willow sculptures along our way.
We’ll reconvene for a late afternoon yoga session to stretch us out and wake up our digestive systems for dinner. Our evening meal will be a vegetarian Indian feast, and you're invited to bring your own drink to have with your meal should you wish. After dinner has settled, indulge in relaxing Yin yoga, a delicious yoga nidra, followed by some quiet time indoors, out by the fire or on the terrace before heading to your comfy bed.
On Sunday, your day can start with an early morning meditation session or you can enjoy a little lie in. We’ll come together for breakfast before checking out of our rooms by 10am. While breakfast settles, we’ll have a discussion to draw together all the threads we have woven over our weekend and then practice yoga and relaxation one more time before lunch.
After lunch, you are free to head off home, enjoy the house & grounds a little longer until 2pm, or take a wander through The Outwoods.
